Future-proof Spaces Thanks to J’SYNC

6 Apr 2023

Spotted in Archicomm

Magazine Archicomm featured our typical Jansen story in its April edition. A small note, this article was exclusively intended for French-speaking readers.
Today, we are happy to change that with the translation of this fine piece of journalism. Read below all about how to fully embrace future-proof spaces.

J'SYNC voor futureproof ruimtes

Hello J’SYNC

Group Jansen creates places to be. They achieve this, among other things, with their smart comfort island KAY – featuring numerous integrated technologies – but also with, for example, modular walls or custom interior design. “Together with the architect, we always perfectly coordinate various elements in an interior,” says Philippe Rosseel, COO of Jansen Building Solutions. “And we don’t stop there. We don’t just shape the ideal space; we also continue to reinvent and optimize it after completion. For this, there is now J’SYNC.”
Meanwhile, Group Jansen’s story is built on several unique, self-developed standard solutions. Nevertheless, every project is custom-made. Philippe: “We always reason from the space and the client’s associated needs. These requirements relate to indoor climate and acoustics, as well as flexibility. A modular and circular character are also increasingly part of the package of wishes and needs. Together with clients, architects, and construction engineers, we complete this total puzzle.”

Aesthetic Comfort Islands with High Efficiency

Comfort island KAY, the unique climate ceiling from Jansen, has become a well-established name in the construction world. This ceiling solution consists of elements with standard dimensions and standard provisions. Thus, the lighting is perfectly integrated, just like the IoT grid. “This allows for smart control of technologies and precise monitoring of usage. This grid is a solid foundation, to which other building blocks can be gradually added. A growth story, therefore, with phased investments and on the way to a more economical, comfortable, and smarter indoor climate.”

The baseline of parent company Group Jansen is therefore not without reason places to be. The group creates spaces every day that positively contribute to daily life. For working, healing, enjoying, … “The result of a constructive collaboration with the project architects,” the COO knows. “We are noticing more and more that an effective solution today is not always the solution in the future. Wishes, needs, and circumstances simply change. This is precisely where we focus.”

Stimulating and Facilitating Change

Group Jansen positions itself as a space listener, mapping out changing circumstances and requirements. Some changes are also unpredictable, and it’s difficult to anticipate them. Just think of the corona crisis, rising energy prices, or scarce raw materials and long delivery times. “Precisely for this reason, it’s important to continue measuring and monitoring building performance,” Rosseel explains. “By projecting and analyzing data, we check whether the space utilization is still in sync with the building’s use. We are happy to take on this monitoring. This new service was given the fitting name J’SYNC.”

Darwin Speaks

The application possibilities of J’SYNC are broad and varied. Consider, for example, a restaurant divided into zones. If customers noticeably spend less time at tables in a certain zone and therefore spend less, there may be specific reasons for this. It could be noisier in that zone, or the sun might be shining too brightly through the windows. With the right interventions, revenue in that zone quickly increases. Thus, J’SYNC proves its usefulness in the form of targeted and effective adjustments or additions to the interior. Besides these economic drivers, there are also technical reasons to consider monitoring and follow-up. “Let me conclude with a quote from Darwin that perfectly summarizes the philosophy behind J’SYNC. It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. By constantly adapting and optimizing, the investment in a comfort island and other interior elements and technologies pays off in the short and long term.”
