JES… 3,000th charging station

30 Jun 2025
Jansen Energy Solutions installed its 3,000th charging station this week, confirming its position as one of the most experienced players in the electric charging infrastructure market. “Where we used to mainly install home chargers, we are now seeing an increasing demand for smart business solutions. And that will only increase in the future,” says Johan Maris, COO of Jansen Energy Solutions.

Jansen Energy Solutions was founded in 1987 by Johan Maris. Since 2022, it has been part of Group Jansen. “We started in electrical engineering, and that is still our core business. But we also specialize in niches such as security, access automation, relighting and charging stations. Eight years ago, we installed our first charging station. This week, we connected number 3,000 at Voka – KvK Limburg in Hasselt. That is just over 1 per day,” Johan Maris calculates.

The charging station market is evolving rapidly. Where a few years ago 90% of charging sessions took place at home, we’re now at 60%. “And we expect this to only decrease further in the coming years,” Johan explains.

“In the past, employees received an electric car and a home charging station. The charging costs were reimbursed. That system is not only complex, for example when the employee leaves, but also expensive. Especially with peak loads. We now mainly receive requests from companies that want to combine charging stations with solar panels, batteries and smart control. You’re then talking about an Energy Management System that automatically makes the most cost-effective choices. When to use energy yourself, when to feed back to the grid, when to store in batteries… it’s an investment that pays for itself.”

Next week, the technicians from Jansen Energy Solutions will be working to install 80 charging stations in the prestigious Louise Marie residential project in Antwerp. But this week, the 3,000th charging station was installed at Voka – Chamber of Commerce Limburg in Hasselt. “A great project where we provided 40 charging points including the possibility to double this number later. The electricity for the charging stations is largely generated by the existing solar panels,” Johan explains.

The demand for charging solutions continues to rise. Not surprising when you know that in 2024 alone, 100,000 electric cars were added. And by 2030, 200,000 additional charging points will be needed. But how do you find your way through the maze of all those providers?

“Every situation is different and therefore requires customization. We therefore always start from our in-depth electrical knowledge. Upgrading the electricity? Installing a high-voltage cabin? Fast chargers? We do it all. And we work brand-independently. This way we can always choose the most suitable solution for the specific needs of our customers,” Johan explains. “And we install within 10 working days. Quite a few advantages that convince me we’re quickly heading towards 10,000 charging stations,” Johan concludes ambitiously.
