Our Trendy Comfort Container

18 Nov 2021

Comfort Container

When you think of a site office, do you spontaneously imagine a dark, dilapidated, dirty space? Think again. Because Group Jansen is introducing its ‘comfort containers’ today. These innovative site containers are equipped with the latest technology, a PlayStation, and even a rooftop terrace. The unconventional company thus kills two birds with one stone: it once again brings a breath of fresh air to the construction sector and manages to position itself as an attractive employer for new employees.

As every craftsman knows, working conditions in traditional site containers are not always comfortable. Little natural light, poor acoustics, a gloomy interior, bitterly cold in winter and scorching hot in summer…

This situation had been a thorn in Nadia Jansen’s side for quite some time. That’s why the CEO of Group Jansen is inaugurating the first comfort containers today: “As a construction company, we pride ourselves on comfort. We stand for beauty and high-quality finishes in our projects. And our headquarters in Zonhoven also does justice to our tagline ‘we create your comfort zone’. But the majority of our colleagues don’t spend their time at our headquarters. They’re out in the field, on one of our many construction sites. That’s why we decided to create a pleasant working environment for them as well. Because they’re the ones who make it happen on site every day.”

From PlayStation to Rooftop Terrace

Meanwhile, Nadia has put her words into action, and Group Jansen has pulled a remarkable solution out of its hat. “We are not about standard solutions, nor do we think in those terms,” Nadia Jansen explains. “That’s why we asked our employees what their ideal workplace would look like and then developed our own comfort containers. The atmospheric comfort containers contain the necessary technology, are super functional, and offer an experience.”

The comfort containers are infused with Jansen’s look & feel. There’s an atmosphere that approaches the feeling of a cozy apartment: homely and warm, with wood prints in the furniture, a red exterior and pistachio green and terrazzo interior. What do the containers look like in practice? “In terms of technology, there’s WiFi, an extensive smart board, a copy machine, … provided. In addition, we naturally also incorporate our own products – for example climate islands and system walls – into the container,” says Nadia Jansen.

But it doesn’t all have to be high tech: “A cabinet for your work boots, a coat hook inside the toilet or a handy tap to rinse off your boots: the power of a solution often lies in its simplicity and ease of use. Finally, there’s also space for relaxation. There’s a relaxation room with a TV, PlayStation, sofa with reading lamp and as the showpiece, the rooftop terrace with outdoor lounge.”

Container as Business Card

The first comfort containers are located at Vaccinopolis in Antwerp and Le Grand Hopital de Charleroi de Demain. But because they’re built according to a plug & play principle, they can easily be disconnected, adapted and transported afterwards.

Raf Thijs (team leader at Group Jansen) is one of the first craftsmen who got to experience the comfort container: “For my colleagues and myself, this is a dream. This initiative ensures that we go to the construction site with a smile. But it also brings us closer together as a group, because we can relax in a comfortable way.”

Finally, this container is a substantial business card, experiences Kris Rutten (project manager at Group Jansen). We hear positive signals from our clients and suppliers, because they can meet here comfortably, drink decent coffee and go to the toilet in peace. I think some other workers on the construction site are even secretly a bit jealous (laughs).
