Sometimes innovation starts with a question from a customer. That was also the case for a renowned company that was looking for a space where different wall finishes, materials, and interior design concepts could be presented in a hands-on way. The result? A showroom cube that may well form the basis for an entirely new product concept.

Plenty of challenges
It was no small challenge. “The cube had to be completely freestanding. Drilling into the floor, walls, or ceiling was out of the question. That’s why we developed a self-contained showroom space measuring 3 by 3 meters, built around a specially designed support structure. “The cube combines various finishes, glass panels, and interior elements into a single sleek unit, while remaining completely freestanding,” explains Marcel de Graaf, R&D Manager at Group Jansen.
As if that weren’t challenging enough, it turned out on site that the cube had to be installed in an atrium with a glass floor. This was no small matter, since the structure weighs about 1.5 metric tons. Fortunately, after a thorough inspection by the local engineers, we received the good news: the floor could support the weight, and the installation could proceed.
Flexible Modular Construction
“This cube demonstrates just how flexible modular construction can be. The same principle can be applied to meeting rooms, focus rooms, demo spaces, or temporary workspaces. Thanks to the self-supporting structure, you can create high-quality spaces without impacting the existing building,” adds Anne Cassart, Director of Business Development.
The execution was also impressive. A team of just four employees set up the entire showroom cube in barely six hours. We don’t always make a big deal out of it, but some projects simply run like clockwork.
