Makeover of Mercedes-Benz showrooms

14 May 2025

Maurin Belgium, part of the French Groupe Maurin, is one of the largest car distributors in Belgium. It has 30 locations for the Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Ford, Nissan, Kia, and Maxus brands. Group Jansen took the driver’s seat in giving 3 Mercedes-Benz showrooms a makeover. In Hasselt, Leuven, and Sint-Truiden, you can now discover a state-of-the-art showroom experience that puts customer experience at the center.

Buying a car today is not the same as it was a few years ago. Customers are often well-informed before they enter the showroom. What they’re looking for is an experience. And that’s exactly what Maurin Belgium focuses on. “On one hand, we opt for light-filled spaces with high ceilings for the cars. And on the other hand, we create cozy customer areas where visitors can enjoy a coffee and have an informal chat with our sales representatives. This division contributes to the calming and qualitative feeling that the customer experiences here,” opens Thierry Jacquet, director at Maurin Belgium / Group Jam.

The complete renovation of the showrooms was carried out in phases to minimize closure days. First the office spaces, then the showrooms, and finally the workshops. From electricity and HVAC to flooring, doors, walls, finishing, and even high-speed doors: everything was renewed and smartly controlled through an integrated DALI system. “Simultaneously tackling the 3 showrooms was a logistical and organizational challenge, but we succeeded well,” says Eric Willems, project manager at Group Jansen.

During the project, changes were regularly made to the design and layout. Group Jansen’s flexibility proved to be one of the major assets. “If I had to summarize the collaboration with Group Jansen in one sentence, I would say: excellent communication and a responsive way of working,” confirms Thierry. “Such a large project can never be executed flawlessly. But in the end, everything went smoothly, especially considering the complexity and international context of our industry.”

The renovated showrooms excel not only in finishing but also in technological refinement. Upon entering in Hasselt, for example, the large video wall immediately catches the eye. Additionally, the sales offices adapt to the type of vehicle – AMG, Mercedes-Benz, Smart, or Maybach – through adjustable light atmospheres that reinforce brand identity.

The flooring is also an eye-catcher. “In our showrooms, there are enormous floor surfaces in specific colors and with rounded shapes. Processing this correctly according to Mercedes-Benz’s strict aesthetic requirements was quite a challenge for Group Jansen, but they succeeded excellently,” says Jacquet.

With this complete renovation of 3 showrooms, Group Jansen once again proves its strength in complex retail projects. “By combining technical precision, flexibility, and a customer-oriented approach, the Mercedes-Benz showrooms were transformed into a showcase of modern brand experience. Serene, high-quality, and completely in line with Mercedes-Benz’s expectations,” concludes project manager Eric Willems.
